Creative Placemaking Workshop - Full Day

6-hour tailored format workshop for groups of 30 or more

A full-day workshop on creative placemaking practice with content specifically tailored for your community. Participants will learn the core principles of the practice through a dynamic mix of facilitated learning activities focused on real life examples. You will learn hands-on approaches to researching, analysing and developing a creative placemaking project in your community.
Lead by Artscape staff, the workshop includes:
●     Design and delivery of workshop by Artscape
●     Creative placemaking core principles
●     Presentation, short film, worksheets, handouts
●     Tailored content for your local context
●     Facilitated individual and group activities
●     Detailed exercises including asset mapping and vision development
●     Facilitated panel discussion with local practitioners


Creative Placemaking Workshop - Half Day

3.5 hour standard format workshop for groups of 30 or more

A half-day workshop on the basics of creative placemaking practice offered in standard format.  Participants will learn the core principles of the practice through a dynamic mix of facilitated learning activities focused on real life examples. You will learn the basics about hands-on approaches to researching, analysing and developing a creative placemaking project.
Lead by Artscape staff, the workshop includes:
●     Design and delivery of workshop by Artscape
●     Creative placemaking core principles
●     Presentation, short film, worksheets, handouts
●     Facilitated individual and group activities
●     Introductory exercises including asset mapping and vision development


Making Space for Creativity and Transforming Communities - Half Day

3.5 hour standard format workshop for groups of 30 or more

An intensive look into Artscape’s practice in creative placemaking and its success in creative facility development across a range of models that anchor sustainable facilities in rapidly changing neighbourhoods. Starting from the belief that the arts and culture can transform the lives of individuals and communities, participants will take an in-depth look at the development of Artscape's projects, including challenges and success strategies.
Lead by Artscape staff, the workshop includes:
●     Design and delivery of workshop by Artscape
●     Exploration of a range of Artscape’s sustainable facility development models
●     Tailored focus on select Artscape projects based on audience interests and goals
●     Presentation, short film, handouts
●     Facilitated discussion and Q+A with participants


Information for Organizers

The Creative Placemaking Lab works with communities across Canada and internationally to deliver workshops. We will work with you to plan a successful event and guide you through logistical planning and if applicable, tailoring content.

Timeline
You should use the following rough timelines to engage with us to plan a workshop:
3+ months in advance: Full day workshops
6+ weeks in advance: Half day Workshops

What We Do
We provide the following to support your planning process for the workshop:
●     Organizer preparatory checklist and timeline
●     Organizer workshop hosting guide, including who to invite and invitation copy
●     Prepared social media content to share details about the workshop with your network
●     Tailored, locally-relevant content (for full-day workshops) based on your goals

What You Do
As an organizer you will organize and cover expenses for the following:
●     Workshop venue (consider community spaces, or municipal meeting rooms)
●     Tables, chairs, and any technical equipment such as a mic and projector
●     Catering for your participants (optional)
●     Managing the invitation and RSVP process for workshop participants
 
Process
To plan a workshop, typically you will go through this process:
1.       Decide what workshop option you would like to organize and get the basic details together
2.       Artscape will provide a quote based on the information you submit through the online form
3.       Based on approval of the quote we will go forward with planning the workshop with you
