Artscape welcomes our "American cousins", Artspace, to Toronto!

Last week Artscape was thrilled to welcome Wendy Holmes, Colin Hamilton and Teri Deaver from American non-profit Artspace on a long-planned and much anticipated visit to Toronto.
Artspace is America's leading non-profit real estate developer for the arts. Founded in 1979 in Minneapolis, Artspace has grown from an advocacy organization for stable, sustainable and affordable artist live/work space to the developer of 30 projects across the USA, including multi-tenanted workspace and live/work projects. In the last few years, Artspace has further expanded its mission to incorporate the planning and development of performing arts centres, entire arts districts, and other arts facilities throughout the country.

Our American cousins have always been an inspiration to Artscape, and we were excited to have the opportunity to learn about their practice and to show them around some of our newer projects, including Artscape Wychwood Barns, Artscape Distillery Studios and the Regent Park Arts and Cultural Centre.

We hope that our colleagues returned home as inspired as they left us, and busy planning future cross-border collaborations.
